New Morning, Changing Weather
Prairie Fire (1970)
11/11/70—NEW YORK: Martin Kenner, who is on the Committee to Defend the Black Panthers, and Jennifer Dohrn, the 24-year-old sister of fugitive Weatherman Bernardine and who is holding a tape recorder with a message from Timothy Leary hold a press conference on 11/11. On the tape, which was brought back from Algiers, fugitive Leary called on the youth of the nation to “turn on” to drugs and join the “acid revolutionaries” who are making war on America. Flint, Michigan, Dec. 1969. Bernardine Dohrn addresses Weatherman conference. Last known photo before she went underground. Scanlan’s (1971).
The following interview is between a Weatherman and a Weatherwoman who has since left the organization. It is significant because it is the first time that any Weatherman has made public any of their underground history.

One of the few truly underground publications, Osawatomie was published by the Weather Underground clandestinely while they were on the run from the FBI. The photo used on the cover of this issue is the now-famous ‘The Soiling of Old Glory’ taken by Boston Herald-American photographer Stanley Forman at an anti-busing rally held in Boston on April 5, 1976.
This is another one (also in my book) of over 100 original copies from my collection of sixties underground newspapers that will be on display for a one-night only show this Friday at Spoke Art Gallery.
Opening reception - Friday, January 13, 2012
Complimentary refreshments - 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
One night only.
