O.C.D. Gas Mask. Click here for an inventory and appraisal of appropriate riot gear for all would be street fighters.

If you are into street fighting, the most important thing is to keep your head together. The best way of doing that is by wearing a helmet. This should be common sense, understood by everyone, but the Left likes to ignore such practical trivialities. While you are searching for a new piece of rhetoric, the “man” is searching for a new soft spot on your head.
It’s time we started matching the man’s technology piece by piece so that we can stay alive while tearing down the Amerikan empire piece by piece.
Many people are ignorant of how easily obtainable and cheap these articles really are, so here’s a list of some goodies we’ll all need if we plan to continue the struggle.

Photo by Alan Copeland for Berkeley Tribe (1970)
The Chicago 7 had just been found not guilty of conspiracy to incite riots at the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago, but five of the seven were convicted of crossing state lines with the intent to incite riot and were fined and sentenced to five years in prison (the guilty verdict was reversed in 1972). On the day that the verdict was read a gathering at Provo Park in Berkeley exploded when pent up emotions (about the trial, the war in Viet Nam, the murder of Fred Hampton, Los Siete, the Panther 21, etc) boiled over. Here’s Dave Baker (pictured) describing his arrest.

It looks like I’m going to spend some time at Santa Rita and I’d like to have done something besides getting stomped. People were running, I was backed up against this smashed Wells Fargo window and it came down. Two steps and wham—tan sta–prest pig knee—crunch go my glasses as my face hits the concrete. I feel the blood coming out of my nose almost immediately.
Meanwhile my head assaults a club, as my sides viciously attack several black pig boots in the area. My prick, most insidious weapon in the freak arsenal, connected real solid with one of those boots.
As I was lying there I saw Tribe photographer Alan Copeland pop out and snap my picture and I thought what a good picture in would make, with all the blood and all.
