“Here’s another aspect of my career: when I started painting on my photos, and having people paint on my black and whites. This girl I was going out with a few years ago, Judi Rosen, really talented artist, one day she’s over and she just starts—she puts out some watercolour and paints this one. I freaked out, I was like “oooooooh shit!” So it kicked off a whole fuckin’ phase. I ended up getting 50 of them done by different people. That one up there was done by SSUR, that’s actually Keith Haring holding up two cans of Budweiser. It’s from my Illcentric Crewtons collection.” —Ricky Powell in Grandslam Magazine (2003)
